PROJECT OVERVIEW
When Matt Johnson set out to transform a multifamily property into his dream single-family home, the vision was clear—but the execution hit early roadblocks. After a previous contractor left the project poorly managed and partially started, Matt turned to us to get things back on track and done right.
tHE CHALLENGE
Taking over a project mid-stream is never simple—especially when the foundation of work left behind is flawed. Our team inherited a renovation that had been mismanaged, with incomplete plans and a lack of structural foresight. On top of that, the project involved a full deconversion, requiring major interior reconfiguration, updated mechanicals, and full-code compliance—all while preserving the integrity of a classic Chicago structure.
oUR APPROACH
We started with a comprehensive assessment of the existing conditions, identifying what could be salvaged and what needed to be redone. From there, we worked closely with the homeowner, architect, and inspectors to realign the project with the original vision—only now with the expertise and precision it deserved.
We reimagined the interior layout, removed redundant infrastructure from its multifamily past, and upgraded everything from electrical and plumbing to insulation and finishes. Throughout the process, we maintained clear communication with Matt and ensured every detail met both modern standards and his personal design goals.
THE RESULT
The final product is a stunning single-family home that seamlessly blends old charm with new functionality. More than just a renovation, this was a full-scale rescue and transformation—delivered with care, craftsmanship, and a commitment to getting it right.
